This spacious, modern
family guest house
includes purpose built
accommodation in which visitors are sure to enjoy the friendly
hospitality offered by the owner, Sandra Macleod.
Guest bedrooms are large, bright and
comfortable, with smart en-suite
facilities, TV and hospitality tray. One room, on the ground
floor, is suitable for guests with limited mobility – please
discuss this with us when booking.
There are extensive views of the surrounding
countryside from the
residents’ lounge, which has a further television and a
rocking horse, on which visiting children are welcome to play, at their
own risk and provided they are supervised by a responsible
adult. From the lounge, doors lead into an airy breakfast
room where guests can appreciate the full Scottish breakfast.
Airds is conveniently located to visit all
parts of the Isle of Barra,
being around six miles from Castlebay, for the Oban ferry, and about
three miles from the airport and Eriskay ferry.
Evening meals may be taken at one of the
several restaurants on the
island, including the Heathbank Hotel, which is within walking distance
(a little over half a mile).

Suggestion
During
the summer months from June to August, take a drive over the causeway
to Vatersay, the southernmost point of the western Isles
that’s
accessible by car. The mass of flowers on the machair is a
delight to see. |
