Close to the ferry
terminals of Lochbisdale
and
Eriskay, Brae Lea is convenient if you are arriving on a late afternoon
ferry or departing early morning.
This large, comfortable house is situated
away
from the main road in a quiet location. The bedrooms, all
en-suite, are cosily furnished and there is a spacious lounge in which
guests can relax, read, watch TV or look out for passing wildlife.
A well stocked, compact library is provided,
also a small area where private telephone calls may be made (coin box
phone).
Brae Lea's owners have travelled extensively
and
the items they have collected along the way provide an eclectic
collection of artefacts which will provide
additional interest to meal times in the attractive dining
room.
The Atlantic coast, machair,
extensive beaches and the famous 'lost' Old Tom Morris' golf
course at Askernish are only about five miles west of Brae Lea.
Drive a similar distance south and you'll find it
worthwhile to explore the three or four mile strip of
picturesque coastline on the road to Eriskay.

Suggestion
Park your car a couple of miles up the road at Daliburgh and take a
walk down the minor road that leads west to the machair and beaches -
you'll see so much more than driving all the way. Literary, music or
photography enthusiasts may find it interesting to visit the Kildonan
museum, where a collection of Margaret Fay Shaw's photographs is held.
Her grave is beside that of the Macrae sisters in the Hallan
cemetery, along the road mentioned above.
