 The
Cabarfeidh was built in the 1970s and is
generally considered to be the most prestigious hotel on the Isle of
Lewis. Set in extensive gardens, which are especially attractive in the
summer months, the hotel has 46 bedrooms, which have been the
subject of a recent, thorough, refurbishment programme. Most
bathrooms have been completely renewed, wood finishes
restored, modern lighting installed and delightful fabrics used to
complete the transformation.
On the ground floor
the original restaurant
has been completely redesigned with a contemporary cafe,
brasserie and fine dining area, named Solas (Gaelic for
'light'). Here, you can enjoy the superb food that persuaded
a Scotsman journalist to entitle her review, "a meal to lift your
spirits."

Stornoway Golf Club, is just across the road
from the hotel and a delightful walk around its edge, passing the
restored water wheel, which now provides eco-friendly
electrical energy for the extensive Castle
Grounds.
The town centre is about 15 minutes walk,
much of which is alongside the picturesque inner harbour area
and marina areas, with views across to Lews Castle. In the centre you
will find the museum, arts centre (An Lanntair), gift shops
and
the Lewis Loom Centre.
