This modern inn is on
the edge of a small
village, roughly one third of the way from Berneray to Eriskay.
The accommodation is modern, neatly presented and
generally more spacious than you might expect. All rooms offer en suite
bathroom, TV, radio, direct dial telephone and a hospitality tray.
The Carinish Inn enjoys a good reputation
for its food quality, making it a popular eating-out venue for
local residents, as well as visitors. Good use is made of
fresh, local ingredients - look out for an Uist speciality, flaky
smoked salmon.
The lounge bar offers a good range of malt
whiskies and Hebridean ales, which you can enjoy at cosy
seating by the open fireplace. There's a public bar, too,
with pool table and occasional local entertainment.
From the slightly elevated position that inn
occupies, there's a panoramic view of North Uist's west coast , with a
tidal inlet (Bagh Mor) just across the road from the car park.
It's possible to see flocks of birds on the fairly flat
promontory beyond Bagh Mor - sometimes including lapwings providing a
flying display.
