The Loch Erisort Inn, Sheildinish, Isle of
Lewis HS2 9RA,
Hebrides
Surrounded by croft land and with views over Loch Erisort, the Inn
occupies a peaceful and tranquil setting, and is ideally situated for
exploring both Harris and Lewis.
The property has recently been refurbished to provide five comfortable
en suite rooms, those at the rear having views over Loch Erisort and
those at the front looking over the Eishken and Pairc hills. Each guest
room has TV and tea/coffee making facilities and en suite bath and
shower. Wireless broadband internet access is also available throughout
the inn.
Home cooked meals
using as much local produce as possible are available
from midday to 9.30pm in the restaurant and there is a well stocked and
lively public bar. The traditional “pub”
food menu changes from week to week and typical dishes include Smoked
Haddock And Mussel Chowder, fresh, local haddock In ale batter, steak
and ale pie.
The Loch Erisort Inn is situated midway between Stornoway and Tarbert,
about 1.5 miles along the B8060 at Balallan, in the Pairc area of South
Lochs. Travel time from Stornoway is about 20 minutes and
from Leverburgh a little over an hour.
Take
a trip on down the road into the Pairc area - it's very quiet and if
you keep your eyes out in the hills, you may be rewarded with a view of
the eagles that inhabit this location - try to stay quiet and at a
distance, as they're shy of people.
