Personally
run by the friendly owners, Anne and
Jeff Brandie, Givendale is a very comfortable property, in a peaceful
residential area. The bedrooms are well furnished and, thanks
to
the elevated location, all enjoy views beyond the nearby trees to the
sea loch below, with the far shore being about a mile away.
Breakfast is taken in a bright conservatory dining room and most guests
visit the centre of Portree for their evening meal.
It’s
about 15 minutes stroll and there is are numerous restaurants and
hotels from which to make your choice. While it’s a level
walk
most of the way, there is a short incline just before you get back.
The main town of the Isle of Skye, Portree has local shopping
facilities, such as news, groceries and hardware, as well as good
quality gift shops. There are quite a number of walks that
can be
taken around the town and harbour, where you have a reasonable chance
of seeing seals, dolphins and maybe even otters.
Ferries to the Isle of Harris (Tarbert) are about 20 minutes drive and
the Skye bridge is around 40-50 minutes. The ferry to
Mallaig,
from Armadale, is about 40 miles distant.

Suggestion
Enjoy
excellent walking in the immediate vicinity of Givendale Guest House,
perhaps in Portree Forest, which you can reach without
driving.
At the nearby Aros Centre, where there is a good range of gift
shopping, you can also take a three hour guided tour around the island
and its mountains..
