Although it's only a
two minute stroll to
the
Leverburgh post office, shop and other local amenities. Grimisdale sits
its own peninsula, surrounded by a salmon and trout loch, very private
and secluded from the main village.
You'll find this is a particularly
convenient
guest house at which to stay, if you are taking an early or late
sailing between Harris and Berneray, as it's only a couple of minutes
drive from the ferry.
This is an establishment where quality
matters to
the hospitable owner - in furnishing, food and service. Bedrooms all
have TV; beds are comfortable and stylishly appointed while towels are
fresh and fluffy.
An upstairs lounge with TV and stunning
views is
provided for guests - an excellent place to relax after a sumptuous
three course evening meal, prepared using locally sourced products.
The quiet road passing the property is
pleasant
for a stroll along the lochside and there are plenty of longer walks in
the area, too.

Suggestion
Consider giving your driver a break for the day and ask Farky (the
guest house owner) to provide you with a chauffeur driven trip in his
Mercedes taxi-bus, cost is £30 per hour and the vehicle seats
up
to 7 people.
Or take the inexpensive
return trip on the comfortable Hebridean Transport bus to Tarbert,
viewing the wonderful beaches of South Harris, such as the one pictured
left, from a more elevated viewpoint.
You can return on one of the company's smaller buses, by the rocky
eastern coastal route over the Golden Road. |
