 Centrally
placed for
touring Skye - to visit such attractions as the Cuillins, pictured
above.
Heronfield is personally
run by the friendly owner, Christine Moore and
is situated about 15 minutes walk from the centre
of Portree.
Heronfield is a well appointed, large
centrally
heated modern home set in a small private secluded development just one
mile from Portree village centre. It is positioned to enjoy spectacular
panoramic mountain and sea views across Portree bay eastwards towards
the Island of Raasay and the mainland of Scotland beyond including (on
fine days) the southern parts of the Torridon Mountains in Wester Ross.
Breakfast is taken in a the cosy dining room
and most guests
visit the nearby centre of Portree for their evening meal, where there
are numerous restaurants and
hotels from which to make your choice.
The main town of the Isle of Skye, Portree
has local shopping
facilities, such as news, groceries and hardware, as well as good
quality gift shops. There are quite a number of walks that
can be
taken around the town and harbour, where you have a reasonable chance
of seeing seals, dolphins and maybe even otters.
Ferries to the Isle of Harris (Tarbert) are
about 20 minutes drive and
the Skye bridge is around 40-50 minutes. The ferry to
Mallaig,
from Armadale, is about 40 miles distant.
