Situated roughly
midway along the
north-south route of the Uists and Benbecula, this hotel is convenient
for touring the entire island group.
With a touch of 'country house' style, the
Isle of Benbecula House Hotel has additional modern touches, like the
large conservatory dining room, where you can make the most of the
sunshine, even if the outside temperature is a little low.
And when it's warm, the outside seating and floral tubs give
an almost continental feel.
Further public rooms include a cosy lounge
bar and a reception sitting area - as you explore the hotel,
you'll find various 'nooks and crannies' where you can sit and read or
watch the world go by.
All the bedrooms are en suite and offer a
variety of views, from the distant sea at the front to the ever
changing Beinn Mhor, dressed in purples, blues and greens. If
you enjoy the outdoors, you will love the Uists with their ever
changing light, spectacular sunsets, gentle moonlight, miles of
picturesque beaches and machair tracks.

Suggestion
For a leisurely, outdoor exploration, drive a short distance south to
Howmore (Tobha Mor on the map). There, you can walk through
the
village, which has several traditional, thatched croft-houses and a
collection of ruined churches and chapels. then walk on to the sea
shore and explore the extensive beach and machair. This is a
place where it's well worth hiring a cycle (from the bike shop at the
corner, on the main road) - the village and machair roads (and tracks)
are very quiet and mostly level.
