A 3 night short break by sea, visiting Lewis, Harris and Skye. The perfect way to sample the Outer Hebrides a long-weekend or as an addition to a longer Scottish holiday.
Start your holiday from Ullapool, Mallaig or Kyle of Lochalsh depending on your preference.
From Ullapool, take the ferry across the Minch to Stornoway, with at least two sailings to choose from between Monday and Saturday. Crossing time is around 2hours and 30minutes. Spend a couple of days exploring Lewis and Harris before taking the ferry from Tarbert on the Isle of Harris to Uig, on Skye for your final night. From Uig it is only a half hour drive to Portree – the main town on Skye and the ideal base for exploring the surrounding area. Return to the mainland either by taking one of the regular daily short ferries from Armadale to Mallaig, or over the bridge to Kyle of Lochalsh. Along your way you will have fantastic accommodation of your choice, whether they be B&B’s, hotels or a mix of properties. Starting from Mallaig or Kyle, simply follow the above route in reverse.
A typical 3 night Scottish holiday itinerary
You are completely free to pick your places to stay and time to stay in each, so this itinerary is just an illustration of what you might choose to do. However, we don’t advise that you be too ambitious with distances on a short break holiday. You’re welcome to book additional nights, if you wish, allowing you to spend more time exploring – one of our holiday advisors would be happy to help you create your own unique Hebridean schedule.
