Sometimes a bride and groom will choose to go away together to celebrate their marriage with either no guests at all, or just a small number of friends and family. Hebridean Hopscotch Holidays can offer an ideal way to achieve this, by combining a holiday with a wedding ceremony and reception tailored to meet your dreams.
Unique locations for a wedding with a difference
While we co-ordinate your accommodation and travel arrangements directly, we can use our extensive knowledge and experience of island weddings to identify a shortlist of suitable suppliers and venues for your ceremony and reception and to introduce you to them, as necessary. You can then conclude your wedding arrangements directly with the suppliers and celebrants.
You may prefer an indoor or outdoor ceremony at an hotel, on a fabulous shell-sand beach or uninhabited island, perhaps at the Callanish Stones or one of many other amazing venues – then follow it with a hotel reception. Or a fish and chip supper if you wish – the choice is yours and whatever you choose, you’ll find that the relaxed hospitality Hebrideans are known for will extend to your wedding, too.
Several of the hotels in the Hebridean Hopscotch Holidays programme offer both wedding ceremonies and receptions, varying in size from two (i.e. just a bride and groom) to around 200. At even the highest rated of the hotels, the 4-star Cabarfeidh in Stornoway, there’s no stuffy formality, although you will enjoy a touch of elegance and class.
Scottish Law allows for a ceremony conducted by a Minister of Religion, or a civil ceremony by the Registrar, to be held at any location, indoors or out. For a Registrar’s ceremony, application for a temporary license is made at least three months prior to the wedding date and, provided the location is deemed suitable and safe, the license can be issued.
We have already researched some of the many alternatives available and can offer a list of locations known or expected to be suitable (subject, where required, to license and land-owner’s approval) and will be happy to discuss the costs and procedures, then help you with the arrangements.
Although we can be generally optimistic about outdoor events in summer, in case of bad weather, a wedding ceremony arranged for an outdoor location can be relocated to the hotel.
We work very closely with local suppliers and can help you to arrange cars, photographer, flowers, gentlemen’s Highland dress, hairdressing, make-up, entertainment plus any other items.
We suggest that you telephone Hebridean Hopscotch for an initial discussion, without obligation and we can then assess the level of service you would require, before preparing suggestions and quotations.
