Enjoy speed, comfort and convenience on flights to the Outer Hebrides with the Loganair service direct from Glasgow to Stornoway’s modern air terminal or to the Isle of Barra beach airport.
Loganair flights to the Outer Hebrides
Loganair provides flights to Stornoway from Glasgow, Edinburgh or Inverness, in addition to the Isle of Barra, giving Hebridean Hopscotch guests a good range of choice of flights to the Western Isles. The baggage allowance on Loganair Scottish domestic flights is 15Kg. Note that the cabin bag allowance is different to the standard Loganair allowance. You are allowed a cabin bag weighing no more than 6Kgs and measuring no more than 40cm x 35cm x 18cm – if you exceed the limit and it is noticed at check-in, it will be sent as hold luggage (if there’s space) at extra charge (currently £10 – November 2018). If you exceed the limit and it’s not noticed, your cabin bag will be too big to fit the narrow overhead locker.
Compared to a road and ferry journey, you’ll save time getting here and you’ll be ready to start exploring, as soon as you arrive. The most remarkable airport in the Hebrides is probably on the Isle of Barra, where flights to the Outer Hebrides land and take off from the beach at low tide. It’s said to be the only beach airport in the world that handles scheduled flights and the Twin Otter aircraft are built specially for this route.
‘Flydrive’ island hopping holidays start in Barra or Stornoway. The hire charge includes fully comprehensive insurance covering UK and EU drivers between 21 and 79 (subject to satisfactory completion of the hire documents) and there’s no additional charge for CDW or excess to worry about. Older or non-EU drivers may be insured without extra cost, after approval is received from our insurers.
