Contemporary comfort at Broad Bay House, Isle of Lewis

On a clear day, the Scottish Highlands can be seen across the Minch. Inside there are four spacious luxury en-suite bedrooms, including one for the less mobile visitor. The location itself is worth the 5-star rating, just a few miles north of Stornoway, and adjacent to a sweeping sandy beach with direct access from the house to the shore.

Inside there are four spacious luxury en-suite bedrooms. All bedrooms are equipped with a home cinema system or Blu-ray player, Samsung HD flat-screen Smart TV and a Bose Bluetooth speaker. In addition, each room has a Nespresso machine, complimentary snacks, and luxury toiletries. Outside each bedroom is a personal decking area, with seating. Soft colours, natural woods, and sympathetic furnishings provide a relaxing environment.

Guests receive excellent service and great food. Guest lounge/dining room, free Wi-Fi,  laundry, library, local maps and an honesty bar.

Accommodation

Broad Bay House is a purpose-built luxury guest house. Every room is thus designed and furnished to give you comfort and relaxation, with every possible convenience. A good night’s sleep is assured with luxury mattresses, fine Egyptian cotton bed linen and goose down duvets. For those with allergies, synthetic duvets and pillows are available on request.

Food and drink

Broad Bay House received one of the first VisitScotland “Taste our Best” food awards in 2013 for our use of the great Outer Hebrides local produce, and that award has been repeated every year since. We pride ourselves on high-quality food, based on local ingredients, and we source fresh ingredients from the islands whenever possible, plus we make our own bread. Breakfast is served in the guest dining room and there is a large continental option with cereals, fruit, yoghurt, croissants and more. Plus a cooked Scottish menu with plenty to choose from.

During the afternoon you can help yourself to complimentary tea & coffee and a homemade biscuit or traybake whilst relaxing after your journey or a long day exploring our beautiful island.

Broad Bay House also offers guests an informal 3-course evening meal 3 nights of the week and a lighter supper platter on the other 3 nights of the week (excluding Monday evening). Booking in advance is essential, please let us know your requirements at the time of booking or as soon as possible and at least 48 hours in advance.
For 3-course evening meals, a set menu is served with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients especially the islands’ fish, shellfish, lamb, beef and game. For supper platters, there is a choice of 3 platters for two to share – Local Smoked Salmon, Meat and Cheese or a Tasting Platter.

We are happy to cater for vegetarians and vegans, but please notify us in advance. We will do our best to accommodate any food preferences, intolerances or allergies providing you advise us well in advance, although we are unable to guarantee that our food is 100% nut or other allergens free.

Convenient for town and touring

There’s plenty of free off-road parking for guests and Broad Bay House is only a few minutes’ drives from the island’s ‘capital town’ of Stornoway. If you want a change from the beach at the end of the garden, the three beaches at Tolsta, just 6 miles away, offer a variety of opportunities to walk, surf or simply sit and look, while the entire island may be easily accessed from Broad Bay House.
