Hugh Macdonald welcomes you to stay in his historic manor house in Portree, the Isle of Skye, that has been home to his family for over 150 years.
Viewfield House stands in a 20 acre woodland setting close to Portree – there are sea views from the gardens around the house. The house retains its Victorian character and the interior is wonderfully intact.
When you stay here for bed and breakfast, the atmosphere is of a Scottish house-party – with the added convenience of en-suite bathrooms and free wi-fi.
The property is reached by a driveway from the main road to an elevated position, and is only about 10 minutes’ walk from Portree town centre, where you’ll find plenty of restaurants, shops, local buses and coaches connecting to nationwide destinations. There’s is an active fishing harbour, where local boats land fish, langoustines and other seafood. You can take a boat trip for a closer look at wildlife – Skye is known for whales, seals, dolphins, sea eagles and more.
Viewfield House is convenient for all of the Isle of Skye, so you may like to stay long enough to visit Dunvegan Castle, the Talisker Distillery and the majestic Cuillin mountains.
Ten of the eleven bedrooms are en-suite and the other has its own adjacent private bathroom. They are generally spacious, comfortably furnished and decorated and in country house style, including hospitality tray.
Some rooms have sea views (please ask when booking if this important to you). All are furnished to a high standard. A residents TV lounge is provided.
Dinner, at additional charge, is available by prior request – please contact Viewfield House a few days before arrival to make your reservation. There is a good range of restaurants in the centre of Portree, within comfortable walking distance.
